FEMA's New Policy Regarding Levees
Flood hazard conditions are dynamic, and many maps may not reflect recent development and/or natural changes in the environment. As part of its Flood Map Modernization efforts, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) works with federal, state, local, professional, and technical partners to identify and map the risk of flooding behind levees. Modernization of maps for these areas is a cornerstone for helping communities to be better prepared for flood disasters.
